Descriptive writing

The photo that I have chose is a setting of the war remains of an area. From this picture, you can sense a very serious and relieved atmosphere. From this picture, I also can tell that a very intense battle had taken place. Two soldiers are standing in a building covered with bullet holes and rubble, a war torn building. They look as if they had just fought a victorious battle and are relieved that they had made it out of this intense battle alive. However, they are still looking serious as though they are still vigilant in case they are ambushed by the enemy. The way the soldiers in the photo are also looking as though they are looking for any friendly survivors which could still be injured and are in need of assistance immediately. From their looks, I can tell that the two soldiers have not lost any hope yet and are searching high and low for anyone in need of help. The soldiers look very serious and quiet which can tell me that they are scanning the entire area for any survivors and are keeping quiet so that they can hear any sign of life. I can also tell that those two soldiers are feeling very sad as it looks as if they had lost a lot of comrades whom they are close to and are mourning over their death in their hearts. As the two soldiers are not holding their weaponry, I can tell that they think that they are currently safe and can lower their guard. Since the two soldiers are unscathed, I can infer that they could be the last line of defense so the enemies are more weaker and low on ammo which helped them to be able to take down the enemy easily and emerge victorious.

Technology

Technology has affected the way we learn by allowing us to do research online. One example would be my future school. During lessons, my teacher would usually allow us to go online to research more on the topic. By being able to do so, I am able to have a better understanding of the topic which has greatly helped me with my studies. This way, instead of the teacher having to give us huge piles of notes to read, we can just go online and find out more.

Does caffeine have beneficial or harmful effects on the body?

Caffeine is harmful to our bodies. It can affect our body if we drink to much. One example is when it was very late and I wanted to finish my homework. However I was feeling very sleepy so I went to drink a few cups of coffee to keep me awake. But the next day, I had a terrible headache and could not go to school. This was the result of me drinking too much of coffee which caused me to have a terrible headache and affected my body physically.

Do we still need heroes?

Heroes are necessary in the modern era that we are in today. In the modern era today, there are serious problems happening throughout the world. An example of one problem is the nuclear crisis that is happening in Japan now. They are in serious need of a hero who can come to their aid and help them solve their problem. Heroes could come to our aid when crisis strikes us and help us.

The comic book series that I had read was "Doraemon". It is about a little boy called Nobita who meets a robot cat called Doraemon from the future to come and help him. They then embark on many different exciting adventures. Doraemon can create a lot of weird things from his pocket such as a helicopter hat which allows the wearer to fly.

Racial slurs should be illegal

Racial slurs are nicknames that cause the particular group which is being slurred to feel insulted. Racial slurs prevent people of different races to live together in harmony and instead cause racial tension which could lead to riots and fights. Racial slurs also cause people to feel depressed, left out and insignificant.

When I was primary 5, there were a group of Malay students in my class. There was a bully in our class and he started calling them "chocolates". I could see that they were feeling very insulted but did not dare to tell the bully to stop. Soon, some of my classmates followed and started to call them by their nicknames. The group of Malay students felt more and more left out everytime one of my classmates called them by their nickname. I could not stand the insults and went to tell our form teacher. She scolded the group of people who called the Malay students by their nicknames and even told their parents about their actions. From that day onwards, everyone stopped calling the group of Malay students by their nicknames. I felt that what I did was the right thing to do and learnt that we should not encourage racial slurring amongst our classmates as it could hurt someone's feelings.
