My best memory of Chinese New Year
My very best memory of Chinese New Year was last year in 2010. It was the most fun and enjoyable memory that I have of Chinese New Year. I was able to go to most of my relatives homes to visit them. Even though I brought a very big sling bag to contain my red packets, after the end of each day, it was always puffed up. I was also able to meet my cousins and play with them. I also loved the reunion dinner with my grandparents. I loved the all the delicious food especially my paternal grandmother's food. She would always buy fake abalone for us to eat and it tasted much better than the real abalone. At the end of each day, my brothers and I would happily go into our rooms and open to see our "loot" for the day.

My identity
I think the one's identity is shaped by how that person is brought up and the environment he or she is brought up in. The factors that led to the formation of my identity is that I was brought up unable to always get what I want, this has taught me that I can never always get what I want and should treasure what I have now.

The person who is responsible for Margot's treatment
I think that the person responsible for Margot's treatment is William as he is always the one who goes to Margot and bully her. If I was one of the school children, I would befriend Margot and ask her to tell me more about the sun and how it felt to look at it. This would help to let Margot not feel lonely and sad.
Reflection on comic strip
I had lots of fun during the making of my comic strip as I got to choose my characters and also create my own comic strip for the first time in my life! I also enjoyed it as I was able to use my imagination to think of a scene that could convey the theme and the meaning of the story to my readers. Making comic strips also makes me think critically as I would need to think of a story line for my comic trip. Before I created the comic strip, I did not really know of what kind of story I should make. After thinking for a long time, I finally came up with a idea. It was about my school moto which is to never give up. In my story, I wrote about two friends climbing up a very tall mountain. One of the friends gave up half way and headed back down the mountain feeling disappointed. The other friend did not give up and finally climbed to the summit of the mountain. I would make another comic strip in future if I have the time as I enjoy the process of making it.

Comic strip

The reason why I chose these different pictures was to depict the scene of two people making their way up a mountain. I chose two characters, one with determination and one without determination to show that it requires determination to succeed in what u want to do. These images help to show the obstacle that stood in their way which caused one of them to back out. I used the person who finally reached the summit to show that so long as u have determination, you can accomplish many things.

My learning goals for this year in LA
My Learning goals for this year in LA are to be able to learn as many vocabulary words as possible as I am very weak in my vocabulary. I am very weak in my narrative writing as I always put in very vague words into my narrative writing.I also hope to do well in my comprehension as I am not able to answer the question appropriately as I do not understand the question.

The most valuable thing learnt in 2010 in LA
The most valuable thing that I learnt in Language Arts in 2010 was the figurative language that we learnt. This has helped me a lot not just in my poetry but also whenever I read a book I am able to understand it better. There are many different types of figurative language such as assonance, alliteration, metaphor and simile. Figurative language is what makes a poem so interesting. It gives it "characteristics" that make it fun and exciting to read. Even though I had a little problem with figurative language in the start of the year, I still was able to improve towards the end of the year in figurative language.

My favourite book is "Harry Poter and the Order of the Phoenix". I like this book because it has a lot of thrills and magic fight inside. This episode is also one of the most exciting ones in the harry poter series. There are a series of thrilling events happening in this episode.

in-class assignment(activity 2)
1. Have you ever been in the company of a group of which you were clearly not a member? What was the circumstance? How did you act? How were you treated?
Yes.This happened when I was doing a group project with my group members. I had quarreled with one of my group members the day before about whether I should be helping him in another project. He told the other group members that I was selfish and should be treated as if I was not there. The other group members listened to him and started to ignore me during that discussion. I was upset at what he was doing and decided to go and apologize to him for being so selfish. Fortunately, he was very forgivable and decided to accept my apology. At the end of the project discussion, we were able to think of a satisfactory idea for our group project.

in-class online assignment(reflection on song)
This song has the greatest impact on me as it is inspirational and also talks about how our parents raised us. This song describes how the author created this song to show his gratefulness towards his parents for their love and sacrifice. The author also says in his song that his parents raised him up to do great things and he would be what he is today without them.
